Mexico and Ecuador are having a big argument because Ecuador’s police went into Mexico’s embassy in Quito and took Jorge Glas, who used to be Ecuador’s vice president, out of there. Glas was staying in the embassy because he said Ecuador was treating him unfairly.
Mexico offered to protect Glas and asked Ecuador to let him leave the country safely. But Ecuador’s special forces went into the embassy and arrested Glas anyway. Ecuador says it’s their right to do this because they don’t want criminals in their country.
Mexico’s president thinks Ecuador’s actions are wrong and against the rules of international law. He says it’s like they’re being bossy and not respecting Mexico’s rights.
Some people in Ecuador feel it’s not fair that Mexico is protecting Glas, especially since he’s friends with Mexico’s president. But even if they’re mad, it’s not okay for Ecuador to break into Mexico’s embassy.
Mexico is upset about what happened, and they’re going to leave Ecuador soon. They also want to complain to an international court about how Ecuador treated them.
