In the latest escalation of violence, a Russian missile attack has caused significant injuries in the southwestern Ukrainian city of Odesa, according to Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov’s statement on Thursday.
Mayor Trukhanov confirmed via Telegram that another Russian ballistic missile strike had targeted Odesa, resulting in injuries to 13 individuals. He also noted that rescuers were contending with a substantial fire caused by the attack.
Furthermore, Odesa region Governor Oleg Kiper reported that 14 people were injured in the missile assault, emphasizing that civilian infrastructure, including postal warehouses, sustained damage.
This attack marks the continuation of a series of strikes on Odesa, a crucial Black Sea port vital for Ukrainian grain exports, which has been repeatedly targeted by Russian missile and drone attacks.
Earlier reports had indicated casualties from previous attacks, with at least three people losing their lives in a Russian missile attack on Wednesday, and five fatalities reported on Monday.
The relentless bombardment of Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure by Moscow has intensified in recent months. Moreover, Russian forces have launched a significant offensive along the eastern front line, claiming to have captured several towns.
The continued attacks on civilian areas underscore the grave humanitarian crisis and escalating violence in the region, further heightening concerns for the safety and security of Ukrainian civilians.
