The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has vehemently criticized Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, for suggesting that the controversy surrounding the six judges’ letter on judicial interference should be settled outside the court. The PTI asserts that this recommendation is a blatant indication of the absence of rule of law in Pakistan.
In a strongly worded statement, a PTI spokesperson demanded that the Supreme Court issue a contempt notice to Mr. Sanaullah. The spokesperson further accused the current government of attempting to manipulate judicial processes through behind-the-scenes deals, asserting, “The party that has ascended to power through a deal is now proposing similar deals to the judiciary.”
The PTI also voiced its condemnation of the government’s inaction regarding the escalating tensions along the Pakistan-Afghan border. The party urged the government to reassess its priorities and devise a comprehensive strategy to achieve a durable and permanent resolution to the border issues. The spokesperson lamented that Pakistan’s border areas remain in a state of constant tension due to what they described as the government’s “failed” foreign policies.
In addition, the PTI raised concerns over the revival of the Tyrian case against its founding chairman, Imran Khan. The case, which has been scheduled for rehearing after a year, was previously dismissed by two judges of a three-member bench on grounds of maintainability. The PTI accused Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq of exhibiting bias against Mr. Khan by forming a new bench to hear the case instead of delivering a verdict based on the previous ruling.
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expressed serious concern over incidents of mob violence targeting international students, including Pakistanis, in Bishkek. He urged the Foreign Office to take immediate steps to ensure the safety and security of Pakistani students in Kyrgyzstan and to facilitate their safe return home. The PTI emphasized the urgent need for governmental action to protect Pakistani nationals abroad amidst rising violence.
