SWEIMEH – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed gratitude to Indonesia’s incoming president, Prabowo Subianto, for his offer to assist in the ongoing crisis in Gaza. The acknowledgment came during their meeting on Tuesday at an aid conference held in Jordan.

Prabowo, currently serving as Indonesia’s Defence Minister, pledged that his country, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation, would send peacekeeping forces to Gaza if a United Nations-backed ceasefire is established. He also committed to ramping up medical aid immediately to the beleaguered region.

Blinken congratulated Prabowo on his election victory and discussed the benefits of a U.S.-led ceasefire initiative, which aims to benefit both Israelis and Palestinians, according to State Department spokesman Matthew Miller. “Secretary Blinken thanked the defence minister for Indonesia’s support for the proposal to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of all hostages,” Miller stated.

Addressing the conference, which took place on the shores of the Dead Sea, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s readiness to provide medical assistance to Gaza. He detailed plans to dispatch medical teams, a field hospital, and a hospital ship to aid those affected by the conflict.

This development marks a significant international effort to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with Indonesia poised to play a crucial role in supporting peace and providing much-needed medical relief.
