Last night, a brave soldier of the Balochistan Frontier Corps made the ultimate sacrifice while thwarting a terrorist attack on a naval base in Turbat. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that four terrorists attempted to assault PNS Siddique but were met with a swift and effective response from security forces, resulting in their elimination and the safeguarding of personnel and assets.
During the operation, 24-year-old Sepoy Noman Fareed valiantly laid down his life. Makran Commissioner Saeed Ahmed Umrani confirmed heavy exchange of fire and explosions near Turbat airport, where armed assailants attempted to breach the perimeter but were repelled by security forces.
PNS Siddique, a significant naval air station, faced the threat, with locals reporting numerous blasts and prolonged gunfire throughout the night. The Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their timely action, preventing a potential catastrophe. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and expressed solidarity with the armed forces.
This incident follows recent attempts to target strategic locations, including a foiled attack on the Gwadar Port Authority Complex where two soldiers lost their lives. The ongoing struggle against terrorism underscores the challenges faced by Pakistan, as highlighted in a recent security report.
In a separate operation in Dera Ismail Khan, security forces neutralized four terrorists involved in various heinous activities. The successful operation reflects the determination to root out terrorism from the country, with local support being instrumental in these efforts.
