England batsman Harry Brook has announced his availability for Yorkshire ahead of the County Championship season opener.

Brook, who recently withdrew from the Test series in India due to his grandmother’s illness and subsequently opted out of the Indian Premier League following her passing, is now focused on representing Yorkshire. The team is set to kick off their season against Leicestershire at Headingley on Friday, 5 April.

Yorkshire’s head coach Ottis Gibson expressed his anticipation for Brook’s return, noting that the absence of IPL commitments opens the door for Brook to feature in the early fixtures. Additionally, there’s a possibility of England captain Joe Root joining the squad for some matches during the initial phase of the season.

Brook, who last played competitive cricket during the fifth T20 match in the West Indies in December, is eager to contribute to Yorkshire’s campaign. Meanwhile, England gears up for upcoming T20 fixtures against Pakistan and the T20 World Cup, with their first match scheduled for 22 May.

As Yorkshire aims for promotion to Division One after finishing seventh last year, the potential inclusion of Brook and Root adds depth and quality to their lineup, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
