ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Imran Khan has asked for a special investigation into the violence that happened on May 9 and the elections on Feb 8.
He wants the Chief Justice of Pakistan to listen to the requests made by his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI).
Mr. Khan talked to reporters after going to court for a hearing in a big corruption case.
He thinks that the government is using the May 9 violence to hurt his party, following a plan made in London.
He wants the Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to create a group to look into this.
He said that the people who caused the violence could have been caught with video footage, but the footage is missing. He believes that the people who stole the footage are responsible for the violence.
He also said that the cases against the Sharif family and President Asif Ali Zardari being closed is also part of the plan made in London.
He doesn’t think the Senate elections are fair because he believes that the National Assembly was chosen unfairly in the first place.
Regarding a recent hearing in the US Congress about a secret message, Mr. Khan said that if the US diplomat had said they supported removing his government, it would have been a problem for the Biden administration.
He said that Asad Majeed, a former ambassador, told the National Security Committee about threats from Donald Lu, the US diplomat.
Mr. Khan said that Mr. Lu didn’t say everything during the hearing because it would have been bad for the Biden administration.
He also mentioned that he’s not responsible for keeping secret documents safe because there are rules in place for that.
He doesn’t trust the Election Commission of Pakistan to investigate election rigging claims because they ran the election, so he thinks they can’t be fair.
Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, also talked to the media. She said that Mr. Khan is healthy, both physically and mentally.
She warned the Chief of Army Staff, the ISI head, and the chief of Counter Terrorism Department that they would be blamed if anything bad happened to Mr. Khan. “She said the nation wouldn’t stand for it”.
