Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, speaking at the passing-out parade of cadets at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Asghar Khan Academy, underscored the military’s commitment to upholding constitutional limits and called for adherence to the principles outlined in Pakistan’s Constitution.
Addressing the cadets, General Munir emphasized the importance of respecting the boundaries set forth in Article 19 of the Constitution, which defines the limits of freedom of speech and expression. He urged individuals to refrain from flouting these restrictions, emphasizing that adherence to constitutional principles was paramount for a cohesive society.
Praising the Pakistan Air Force for its unwavering dedication and professionalism, General Munir lauded the PAF’s role in safeguarding the nation’s airspace, citing the shooting down of Indian aircraft in February 2019 as a testament to the air force’s bravery.
Addressing the cadets directly, the COAS urged them to embody the virtues of character, courage, and competence, emphasizing their role as guardians of the skies and guarantors of regional unity. He urged them to remain committed to upholding the nation’s best spirit and professional expertise, drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of past heroes like Rashid Minhas, Sarfraz Rafiqui, and M.M. Alam.
General Munir also highlighted the evolving nature of warfare, citing technological advancements such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and quantum computing as factors reshaping the use of air power and expanding its scope.
Commenting on global conflicts, the army chief expressed concern over the ongoing Israeli offensive in Gaza, condemning the indiscriminate killing of civilians and underscoring the devastating impact of war. He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of India-occupied Kashmir, condemning India’s illegal occupation and vowing to continue providing moral, political, and diplomatic assistance to Kashmiri freedom fighters.
