At a special event at the United Nations, Pakistan spoke about important global issues like conflict, poverty, inequality, religious intolerance, and climate change. Ambassador Munir Akram talked about the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and the need for justice. The event celebrated the International Day of Nowruz, a time for reflection, not just celebration.
Ambassador Akram mentioned that Nowruz represents renewal and resilience, emphasizing forgiveness and embracing one another. The event was supported by several countries. Nowruz, he said, is a festival of hope and joy, celebrated across Asia and Europe through art, music, and customs.
He quoted a famous Pakistani poet to describe the spirit of Nowruz and highlighted the Prime Minister’s message promoting cultural unity and inclusivity. Ambassador Akram also spoke about Pakistan’s cultural heritage and its connection to Nowruz, particularly in regions like Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
Pakistan is committed to promoting peace and reconciliation through Nowruz celebrations, cherishing it as part of humanity’s cultural heritage. He ended with a poem by Parveen Shakir, capturing the anticipation and hope of spring’s arrival.
