In a recent statement, former Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Chaudhry Fawad Hussain lambasted the current PTI leadership, blaming them for the prolonged incarceration of PTI founder Imran Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi. Speaking from his residence in Ladhar near Dina, Hussain highlighted what he perceives as a critical lack of effective political strategy within the party.
Hussain emphasized that despite enjoying significant public support, the PTI leadership has failed to provide a coherent political strategy. He suggested that the party’s focus should shift towards forming an opposition alliance. He specifically mentioned key figures like Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), and Jamaat-i-Islami, stressing the necessity for these parties to unite under a single banner to effectively challenge the government.
“The real focus of the PTI should be on building an opposition alliance with Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and Jamaat-i-Islami,” Mr Chaudhry said, adding that “talks with the government cannot take place unless these political parties gather on one page”.
Moreover, Hussain criticized the government’s handling of infrastructure projects, citing the example of the Lillah-Jhelum dual carriageway. He revealed that the cost of the project had escalated significantly since its approval in 2021, pointing out inefficiencies in budget allocation and project management.
Regarding development budgets, he disclosed figures approved by the federal and Punjab governments, expressing dissatisfaction with the allocation for crucial projects like the Lillah-Jhelum dual carriageway and a trauma center in Tobah town. He blamed elected representatives from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for delays and inadequate funding approvals, suggesting their failure to prioritize public welfare.
Fawad Hussain urged for a reevaluation of PTI’s political strategies and emphasized the urgency of a cohesive opposition front to challenge the current government effectively. His statements reflect growing dissent within PTI ranks and a call for renewed political direction amidst ongoing challenges.
