Chinese President Xi Jinping said he’s happy that Nauru wants to join the Belt and Road Initiative. He met with Nauru’s President David Adeang in Beijing.

Earlier this year, Nauru stopped recognizing Taiwan and started relations with China instead. This is the first time the Nauruan president has visited China since then.

Xi thinks Nauru’s decision to support the one-China idea and become friends with China is a good move. He believes it’s in line with what’s happening globally.

Xi believes that even though China and Nauru have just started being friends, they can achieve a lot together if they’re honest and work hard. He wants to help Nauru grow by supporting trade, investments, and building things like roads and buildings. He promises to help Nauru develop without any conditions.

President Adeang said he’s happy to be in China and wants to learn from its history and culture. He thinks starting ties with China is a big step for Nauru and will help the country grow. He wants Nauru to work closely with China and learn from its success.

After their talk, they signed papers agreeing to work together on projects related to the Belt and Road, global development, economics, and agriculture.
