During a meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Asim Munir on Wednesday, President Zardari expressed concern over unfounded accusations made by a specific political party and a few individuals against the army for their own political gain.
The meeting took place at the Presidency, as per an official statement.
The COAS congratulated President Zardari on his appointment and wished him success in his tenure. He briefed the president about ongoing army operations against terrorism and its readiness to tackle conventional threats. He also highlighted the army’s contributions to development projects, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
President Zardari acknowledged the army’s role in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He praised the army’s efforts in social development in affected areas, underscoring its commitment to national progress.
Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s determination to combat terrorism and affirmed the nation’s readiness to respond with full force using all national resources.
He expressed serious concern over baseless accusations made by a specific political party and some individuals to serve their narrow political interests, vowing to handle such disruptions firmly.
Zardari paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the nation, stating that their sacrifices would always symbolize the resilience and strength of Pakistan. He reaffirmed the nation’s commitment to honoring martyrs and their families.
