In the second Test match, Sri Lanka’s Prabath Jayas­uriya, Lahiru Kumara, and Kamindu Mendis each took two wickets, bringing Sri Lanka close to another big win. At the end of the fourth day in Chittagong, Bangladesh were 268-7, still needing 243 runs to win.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz scored an unbeaten 44 runs, keeping Bangladesh’s hopes alive for the fifth day, with Taijul Islam batting alongside him on 10 runs. Mominul Haque fought hard, scoring 50 runs before being dismissed by Jayasuriya just before tea.

Shakib Al Hasan and Liton Das contributed with 61 runs for the fifth wicket, but their partnership was broken by Kamindu. Bangladesh lost wickets regularly thereafter, with Sri Lanka’s bowlers dominating.

Sri Lanka’s coach, Chris Silverwood, praised Bangladesh’s efforts but acknowledged that his team was in a strong position. Sri Lanka batted briefly in the second innings before declaring at 157-7, with Angelo Mathews top-scoring with 56 runs.

Bangladesh faced an uphill task in their second innings, with Mahmudul Hasan, Zakir Hasan, and Najmul Hossain Shanto dismissed early. Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, and Liton Das showed resistance, but Sri Lanka’s bowlers kept picking up wickets.

At the end of the day, Mehidy Hasan Miraz remained unbeaten on 44 runs, with Bangladesh still trailing by 243 runs with three wickets in hand.

In simpler terms, Sri Lanka’s bowlers did well, Bangladesh struggled to chase a big target, and Sri Lanka remained in control of the match.
